How much does it cost for a PT session?
Prices start from £28, with a variety of payment options from one-off sessions to blocks of 10 and monthly direct debits.
Get in touch to discuss your goals and payment options so we can figure out what the best fit is for you.
Do you have to be a member at Horizon to have a personal training session with me?
No, you don’t have to pay to be a member at Horizon to have personal training sessions with me. It may be beneficial to have a membership to Horizon or another gym to keep up with training outside of our sessions too.
How long does a session last?
A typical in-person session will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
We’ll spend our time together going through a planned workout so I typically ask clients to warm up just before our sessions to allow us the maximum amount of time to go through the full workout.
Remaining consistent in the gym and seeing results doesn’t require you to be in the gym for hours, my own workouts usually last about 45 minutes.
What’s your availability?
I currently work Sunday to Friday during the gym opening hours, so my availability can fit around your busy lifestyle. Contact me for the most up-to-date availability.
I have an injury, can you still train me?
Yes, I’d always advise to check with a healthcare professional that you’re safe to exercise if you have any doubts.
We’ll create a training plan using exercises that you can do whether you can do the original exercise or an altered version.
Will you give me exercises and workouts to do without you?
Once we’ve discussed your goals, I’ll create a training programme tailored to you. Depending on your goals and training habits, the plan will allow you to go to the gym without me but we’ll go through the exercises first to make sure you’re comfortable doing them without me.
I’ll provide you with this plan typically through an app I use so we can both track your training. If you’d rather not use the app, your programme will be sent to you using Google Sheets. Tracking your workouts allows us to highlight areas for development.
Can you help me improve my fitness without doing weights?
There are a number of options available to help you reach your fitness goals that don’t involve lifting weights. However, weights are an excellent form of exercise for a variety of health reasons so we can discuss if this is something we can incorporate in the future.
Contact me to discuss your specific goals and we’ll devise a training plan that suits you and helps you find your fit doing something you enjoy.
How do I find the best personal trainer?
The best thing to do is to speak to your prospective personal trainer to explain your goals and what you’re hoping to get from your sessions.
The personal trainer can then assess whether they’re the correct fit for you, and you with them. It’s important to feel comfortable working 1-2-1 with them and that you’re happy chatting to them.
Do you have any testimonials from current clients?
Yes, you can find all of my reviews on my Google Business Profile. I have listed a few below from there too:
Starting personal training has easily been one of the best things I’ve done for myself – especially as someone who has absolutely no idea what I’m doing!
PT has helped me both physically (having lost 3 stone and counting), but mentally having time after work to decompress and chatting a lot of everything and nothing in particular. Thank you Josh for all of your support – it really is appreciated! – Jack
I first approached Josh a year ago when I had a running injury, and it was becoming clear that strength training was the way to solve it. A year later the injury has gone, my running confidence has come back and I have a new found love of the gym! Josh is a great PT, he pushes you just enough to keep improving and challenging yourself but without being shouty. He also listens to me waffle on! If you’re looking for a PT who’s a decent bloke and knows his stuff I couldn’t recommend him more. – Laura
Josh has, over the last year, brought me back from crisis with my body. After a mega traumatic C-section, resulting infection and traumatic aftermath I was spending all my time looking after my son and everyone else and had completely lost my identity, any sense of what I was doing and any meaningful connection with my body. Throw a new endometriosis diagnosis and further surgery on top of this and I was really at an all time low. I chose to work with Josh because of his holistic approach to health and added nutritional knowledge. He has added experience in helping people with disability and specific body problems and hands down it has been the best money I’ve ever spent on myself. He is gentle, empathetic and genuinely interested in helping his clients, whilst giving measured and realistic encouragement. I have gone from being scared of using my body to to leg pressing a PB of 307kg (so far). My body feels so much stronger and I feel so much better. Sunday morning sessions are genuinely really enjoyable, with celebrations about achievements, real conversations and laughs in between! As an osteopath, I have no problem with recommending him to any of my patients. Thank you Josh 🙏 – Louise
